General language understanding

In contrast to other school subjects - where you learn many things that are often forgotten without further application - in maths and the ancient languages you mainly learn tools:
procedural-algorithmic tools in maths or
conceptual tools in the ancient languages.

The basic grammatical concepts represent an independent meta-level in memory,

they can be used not only in the ancient languages themselves, but also in the mother tongue and other languages, just as arithmetic procedures can be used in numerous different areas.

Latin students have no problems with terms such as conditional, adverb, participle, subjunctive, passive, anteriority, and many others because they have become elements of thought in the classroom.

Latin and Greek inevitably lead to in-depth reflection and mastery of the mother tongue.

In addition, students of the ancient languages can also use the same tools to quickly learn other languages, also by themselves.
